I've debating on whether or not to post this for a while, but here it is. It's for my daughter.


You were born today
and the doctor said you might die

But I just blew him off and stayed

I named you then, that day
Named you Amaya Jade
It means "night rain"
and green as the grass in May
I prayed for your life

It's amazing how you've grown
