The Senator's office just called and asked me to meet with them tomorrow night. They want to put my story on the news and in the newspaper! They said several local organizations and a reporter have picked up on my story and want to see the laws changed!
Supposedly they are disgruntled with juvinile court, child placement and local law enforcement. They are going to use my case as an example of how the courts and police exercise bad judgement time after time. We are finally going public my friends. Cool
The name of the newspaper is The Commercial Appeal. I don't know when the story will be printed, but the paper is on line, and I will let you know when it goes in.
Justice is served my friends, justice is served.

K's Daddy, I kid you not that brought tears to my eyes, had to shake them off Smiler

That is so awesome. Sure sounds like the courts/police will sure think twice before they so irresponsibly make any more decisions with your case, that will be high profile now. As well as let's hope that it helps bring a change to the system in general. These are kid's lives we are talking about after all, not just a folder in a stack that can be so quickly decided on with the same old, same old attitude we often see.

Congratulations and definitely keep us informed.

Well, it went great last night. My case along with a few others will be highlighted on news channel 3, (which can also be seen or read on line), and The Commercial Appeal. I still don't know when yet, but I am to meet with them tonight to find out more.
The main focus will be the police's unwillingness to enforce orders of protection, but other areas are to be touched on as well.
The idea is to spur nationwide changes starting here. I hope this will be a wonderful push for father's rights everywhere. Juvinile court will be ridiculed for it's haphazard decision making, according to the founder of this effort. The referees in this court,(as there is only one judge), and their prior decisions will be put in the spotlight. We hope that the public will be incensed at how children's best interest are often overlooked. As you may know, the referee in my case has refused to let any real evidence be shown, including the pictures of my daughter's bruised body incurred by the wrath of my ex.
In addition, I have been offered the opportunity to apprentice as a politician, and I have accepted. The contacts my parents have made have been laid in my lap. Perhaps this will afford me the opportunity to represent people like us in the coming years.
The changes in the laws that single parents have been fighting for since long before I became one are finally on the horizon, and the movement is gaining momentum.
I'll post here any time I learn something new.

Sounds great.
That's exactly the sort of thing that needs to be brought to light, the facts of the evidence that they wouldn't even consider before making the "same old same old" decisions. This sort of evidence you have in your case is crucial, and should be taken into consideration before a judge makes a decision.
The fact that the police didn't even enforce the court orders that were there in place. It gets me they can just choose not to and basically because they can't be sued for not doing their job. They really should be accountable.

Good for you, and I look forward to hearing more.

K'sDaddy,

There is a tear in my eye and a sense of "finally" in my heart. I am following this closely as I hope it spreads to other countries. The time has come to truly put the child's best interest first. My battles continue and I don't see any immedaite help before my daughter is an adult and on our own but there will be more fathers to follow me and you. It is them we must fight for. Any help I can offer is yours. Testimonials, research, links, anything you want. Envelope licking even. Please post the link to the article as soon as you know. There are organizations up here that I want to forward it to.

No problem JD. Katie is very sick today with fever and vomiting, so I had to postpone the meeting for today. I should have more news tomorrow, assuming she is well enough to leave with someone.
I am as anxious as you to see this followed through. Obviously some calls have been made already, because the D.A.'s office called today saying that my ex and her family are to be charged and trial date set on Sept. 12th. I guess it's just a matter of connecting with the right people.
Don- Accountable they will be, my friend.
I ask for continued prayer as we progress. So far it seems that God has put the right people and circumstances in our path, even when I didn't understand why.
As a side note, I found out this morning that the ex has been drawing food stamps, almost $200.00 a month and medical insurance for almost a year now by claiming she has custody of our daughter. It was stopped today. This should be interesting.

You can bet I'll keep peeking in to see the progress. It does sound like it's making a difference already, would be nice to see it have a continued snowball effect.

The lady from the senators office is supposed to be back in town today. Hopefully I will hear from her.
The ex has been calling from her new job. She says she's selling clothes, but the number on the caller ID says Airways Adult Video and Books. Man, is she dumb or what? My grandmother answered the phone, (I was at my job), and recorded the conversation. The ex confessed three times to her and her family attacking us and kidnapping Katie. They have been saying that I attacked them. Go grandma. We now call the upcoming trial a slam dunk.
I posted on another thread that we still haven't heard anything on the protective orders. The ex is still harassing the family and me. I'm going to call the AG's office and discuss the whole scenario with the guy I've been dealing with. I'll be recording that conversation too. Then I am taking the tape to a lawyer and suing the city. This is crazy and things have to change around here. I can't believe nobody has stood up to these people before.

Just be careful with the phone recording. That's generally against the law without the other party being made aware that they are being recorded. Check with your lawyer on that.

I'm still chuckling about the caller ID.

Perhaps there might be an item or two in the shop that some might consider clothing. (lol)

Fingers and toes crossed here hoping you get some positive action.

Usually, as long as one party is aware a conversation is being recorded it is totally legal, check in your state though. (what a funny rule huh, I guess they just don't want you recording another set of people's conversation)

Right Sue. As long as one person knows the conversation is being recorded, it is legal in this state. I would suggest everyone use this strategy (where it is legal). It is the best way to get someone to tell the truth in court.
Can you see her face when we play the tapes? Will it be Eeker or Red Face or maybe Mad

Unfortunately, in my state it is illegal. I wonder about state-to-state calls though? (maybe I didn't read the whole site, maybe I will look more carefully laterLOL) I actually have no need to tape phone calls.
