"Not your average Jane" Setting New Standards |
So I just got finished consoling my little girl, who suddenly came over to me in tears, saying, "I miss my daddy."
I hurt so bad inside right now. I know what it is to miss your daddy, and I so wanted better for my child. This sucks. |

I'm so sorry. That really sucks. I think about those moments everyday as my baby girl is getting older and will be doing the same thing. You are a very strong mommy, I don't think I will be able to hold it together when she comes to me crying.
I started crying today just thinking about the moments that she will be missing her daddy. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I know what you're feeling. Friends have told me that kids are resilient so maybe that is something that can make us feel a little better. |

Binta's dad lives about an hour away from us. The parenting plan says he gets to see her every other Sunday. That has never been what happens.
He's a truck driver, so he used to be on the road quite a bit. So we would just coordinate visits whenever he was in town. I have always been extremely accomodating. He calls, wants a visit - I'm right there. Now, I think he works locally, so he should be able to get home each night. He says he's working a second job, though, so he says he can't have Binta over, because he works 7 days a week. His job is near our house, so I told him he can stop by anytime before work to get a visit in with Binta. He did that twice. I've welcomed him to eat dinner with us, and I've offered to leave the house so he didn't have to have me hanging around. Hasn't seen her since May 30. I don't know if I could name one thing that could keep me from seeing my daughter for 48 days straight. No. I know I couldn't. Yesterday, when she was crying, I suggested that Binta call him. He said he'd come over today to take her to dinner before he has to go to work. She's very excited. If he doesn't show up tonight, I am going to be livid. Watch for a small explosion in the Seattle area on the news tonight... |

I know what you mean.... How about a year.........mind boggling isn't it......and she was 10 min's away... Tiff I know you will cuz your a good mom but watch the promises..... Been here and it's not cool....I had to monitor the calls so she'd stop lying to her about coming to see her... For Binta I hope he shows...... |

Hmm...maybe you'd do best to call him ahead of time, just to make sure he's coming? To make sure that he knows that his little girl will *really* be hurt if he doesn't come? I know that Lil B's Mom used to sometimes make promises, and then think that it was no big deal to break them. She thought it was just a spur of the moment promise and that he'd forget before the time came. Sometimes that was the case, but not always and I made sure she knew when he was excited and how crushed he'd be if she didn't deliver. Just a thought...seems worth it if it prevents an explosion. Later, Bobby |

I'm just a milli-step ahead of you, Bobby! I did just call him, and very cheerily said, "Binta was just wondering about what time you'd be arriving tonight. She's very excited to see you!"
He said, "About 5:00." (Which means more like 6:00). So I'm happy! |

Nuthin' yet...
Binta just said, "It's past 5:00!" And I said, "Yeah, sometimes Daddy's late. It's ok." She said, "Do you think he forgot?" Doesn't that just break your heart? |

She just called him - he said he's stuck in traffic, and it'll be another 30 - 45 minutes.
Poor girl, she's getting hungry. I can't believe I was married to this man at one time! |
