hi i'm new to the group, i live in sacramento ca. i'm a single mom with a 23 month old baby boy. he's going through the terrible 2's right now and i'm having such a hard time with decipline. he's father lives about 20 min. away but barely acknowledges our existance. we have a lot of mutual friends that are close, so i hear a lot about him and i wish i was over him.

Hi jjsmama,
Welcome to the site. :welcome: Sorry you are having a rough time. Maybe let your friends know that you really would prefer not to be hearing things about your ex. If they respect you they will try to refrain for a while.
You have found a good place here feel free to jump in any time the friends are fine.
God bless.

Hi jjsmama Smiler Rough times seem to be as common as the happy ones when you're a single parent but hopefully you will have more happy ones than rough ones. The rough times just seem longer.

:welcome:

Hi, JJ. As hard as it is to go thru the Terrible Two's, he's doing exactly what he should be doing. Are kids aren't going to be perfect and they won't do everything we want them to when we want them to. Give yourself some slack. Try to develop strategies to engage him without reacting to the situation. When you react it becomes a power struggle which he can't lose. The more you react the more he digs in. I know it's not easy. Try making him laugh or distracting him. It's hard to say what will or won't work because every child is different, but he's yours and you will love him anyway.
