I try not to dwell on this, but I suddenly became an instant single mommy when my fiance was incarcerated last November 9th 2004 for a past DWI he had. While he needed the help, and was really messing up big time because of his drinking.........it's still a very hard thing to have to deal with. I was not prepared to go to court with him that day with our van tank on empty, and have him be remanded, and then I had to get my 2 kids out of the court's day care and head home alone. I am not complaining here....... I am just trying to make you all see the picture. It was like someone jerked a remnant out from under my feet. In the mean time I am just trying to survive. I need to be moving out of this 2 bedroom luxury apartment that we moved into and find one that doesn't take almost all of my income. Problem is......the apartment is in his name, and right now my credit is kind of bad and if they ran my credit, they would make me vacate as a rule they have here whenever someone's credit doesn't meet their criteria. Sounds stupid I know, but that's how it is. And mind you......I have been paying the rent ontime, every monyh, never late. You think they would consider that right? I have re-applied for section 8, but I have another 4 years to wait....Ugh...need I go on? I can go on and on here but I will give you all small doses. Everything is just so confusing for me right now. I am screwed no matter what I do. Shortly after Dave left my van was due for an inspection and I had no idea it expired in February 2005, and here I am in labor in April noticing it in the hospital parking lot waiting for my parents to meet me their and get Denver cause she was with me at the time. I had to end up taking it off the road. Couldn't afford the New York State Inspection, and the car insurance and the repairs that needed to be made. So here I am frustrated and not able to be productive the way that I should and want to be and I am very angry right now. I am not really asking for advice here. I have heard all the negatives from family against Dave and this whole situation. What I just need to know is has anyone ever been in this situation before or is anyone in the situation now? If not then that's ok. I just need someone to relate to on this situation. Where better of a place to ask than on here right? Thanks for your time!

Cass I here ya ! I know just what you are going thru. My EX was in and out of jail all thru out my kids lives. They are only 6 & 3 but they are still affected by it ! It is hard but believe me you will get used to it ! So now I am a SINGLE mom by choice ! Your situation may be different but I got tired of it ! He had never really been there for my kids financially or emotionally. . But now I am glad that I made the decisions that I did, it was VERY hard at times but I have come along way and my kids are doing good ! I hope that this helps out a little.

I had to bail my ex out a couple of times for DUI, assault and battery (fighting at bars, etc.) and things like that when I was first married to him. I couldn't handle his lifestyle and the damage he was doing to our family so I divorced him 5 1/2 years ago. I recently read in the paper that he was arrested for something pretty serious that'll probably keep him in for at least 10 years.

I'm just glad that something this serious didn't happen while I was married to him.

I know how you feel CASS2. Been there, done that. Hope you keep logging on to this site. There's lots of support here. (I haven't been logged on for a long time myself but that's cuz I got so busy.)

Well David had some previous DWI's that caught up with him, so it's nothing that serious. I will do this one and only bid with him, and no more. If he goes off the deep end again he's on his own. I don't have the time and patience for it. And yes this site is awesome! Sorry to hear about your ex's bad ways.
