I got Adeline's baby book and after flipping through it, I think that they should start making them for single parents. There's all of these pages that say like when Mommy and Daddy found out about you they celebrated by....and then letter from daddy....etc, etc. I think they should also start making them either with only Mommy stuff or only Daddy stuff. This is 2008 and the amount of single parents and it's time to move into this century lol Smiler Just an idea. (If they already have this someone please tell me where so I can check it out.)

eh, i just removed those pages. they used to have combined mom and dad pages, now they have mom pages and dad pages just so you can do that. you can also order extra pages as needed.

can you imagine the logistical nightmare for the store stocking them otherwise? mom and dad, mom only, dad only, two moms, two dads, grandma only, grandma and mom.... etc etc etc

do something fun with the dad pages - shred them or burn them or fill them in like mad libs with a friend. Big Grin

If you think you can, or you think you cant - you are right.

Oh Jenn...I remember that so clearly from TEN YEARS AGO!!! I would cry everytime I filled out pages that had "Father's Family" etc..on it. I would think How do I explain that this section is blank...and it was a constant reminder that was an "EMPTY" part of our life!!I mean you would think by now people would be more sensitive to that! So I think LD is right & if they need a whole new isle for ones for Just Mom or Just Dad, or two Moms or Grandparents raising their grandkids, or adopted children from other countries, etc...That's what families are!! Your right society just needs to catch up already...LOL!!!!

I also remember being out shopping with Jake when he was a baby & this sweet old guy came over & was playing with him & saying how handsome & happy he was...Then he said "He must just be his Dad's pride & joy...He must just rush home from work to see him every night!!" Well the well meaning old guy had me bawling my eyes all the way home!! It wasn't his fault & I didn't have the heart to correct him b/c he just would have felt as awful as I did I'm sure...but there are just going to be those times...and they SUC%...but for every shi++y time there are 10 amazing experiences you'll have w/ precious Addie!!!! All those "firsts":
first rolling over, first tooth, first time she sits up. first time she pulls herself to standing etc...That's what those Baby books are really all about anyway...FU)K the "Father" well not really b/c that's how we get into this to begin w/...LMAO..but you know what I mean!!
big huggies Love SFV big huggies

4 U LC...LOL!!

Why not just leave the pages there and blank....wouldn't it be an accurate reflection of the childs life.
I know that makes me sound like an Idiot. I don't do a baby book but I do have 3 ring binders full of stuff for Hannah. Mostly photos since I have taken literally thousands and thousands of pics of her. The thing thats going to look strange one day when she's showing it to friends or whoever is that there are only a few pics of Mom & brother otherwise it's just her and some of me and her. Fact I haven't got a pic of her and brother for a year now so there will be a big gap in the series of her life. The first noticable thing someone will ask her is why aren't there any pictures of your mom in here. I've asked but I can't force Mom to come and get protraits with her so it will just be that way. As sad as it may be I've decided that it does show her life and what happened and who was there to raise her.

So I wouldn't put a whole lot on not having the father pages filled up. I figure later in life it will just reinforce with Hannah that Daddy was da man.....

I probably don't make any sense here but I've wrestled with this too and it's how I think about it.
Like Jaylie said....F the father...or in my case....F Mom....

Ouch!!!!!!!!! That is so painful!!!! God, I can relate to that.
I remember once when my son was really young (about 2) shopping for sinterklaas (st. nicolas december 5th, when kiddies get their toys, not at xmas), and all these proud and happy fathers there choosing presents. So painful.

What also gets me is advertising is also always the perfect 2.2 kid family, all blond and blue-eyed, of course.
tho they are getting more "with it" now, you even see some "really modern" adverts with mixed-race families. great!! but still not one-parent ones, of course.
