I need some help dealing with a spouse's remarriage and adjustments with my children. This is a long story, so bear with me. I have been unable to sleep the last two nights. A lot has gone on lately. I have been divorced five years and have two kids ages 13 and 9. My ex and I generally got along for the sake of the kids the last five years and were together to give them Christmas gifts, for their birthday parties, and for their brithday dinners. Then my ex served me with Catholic annullment papers that contained untruths, some of them very hurtful, in an attempt to declare our marriage invalid for the 16 years it existed so that he could get remarried. I feel extremely hurt and betrayed and refused to participate in the procedure. He got the annullment and promptly got engaged. The marriage is in February. It has really damaged my ability to communicate with him Because of what he did for the annullment), and I cannot even tolerate him walking into my house for the kids anymore. My son's 10th birthday party is coming up, and it is at his dad's. We rotate that year to year. The fiancee will be there, and my issues with the annullment are not resolved. I have tried discussing this with him, but he believes everything in that document was true, and that I was the sole reason for the "invalidity " of our marriage. I have tried explaining to my nine year old that it would be very difficult to go to his 'friends' party at his dad's, but he was obviously hurt and doesn't understand why I can't be there. Should I continue to do all of these things together even though I can't even stand to look at him? I love my kids tremendously, but I feel is if he has betrayed me and walked all over me, and not acting any differently seems close to impossible right now. Please help me with this. Thank you!
