"Professional Rubber At Your Service.... At A loss for Words - NOT! |
So tonight I get a call and my niece is being taken to the hospital. She's 7 and woke up feeling bad. She went on to school cause it was the last day before Christmas Break, only a half day and she wanted to go. She got to school and threw up at 8, went to the nurses office and they didn't call until 9:30. My brother's girlfriend goes and picks her up and she's happy, feeling just fine, bouncing around, and talking about Christmas. Since she's feeling okay, she goes back to work and my brother's girlfriend's mom watches Breanna for the rest of the afternoon. My brother and his girlfriend get home and Breanna is feeling fine and didn't get sick at all. So, grandma leaves and then Breanna's speech starts slurring and they can't understand what she's saying. She throws up and then her jaw is moving and she's not doing it. Then her left arm starts swinging and she's not doing and not able to control it. My brother starts to take her to the hospital and they meet up with an ambulance on the way there. Take her to the crappy hospital in town and she can't move her left arm and her hand is curled up like a claw. Because of this they decide to send her on to the better children's hospital one town over. We got to the hosptial around 7:30 and I finally left about 11, to go ahead and get Gabe in bed. But they did a CAT Scan and are going to do an MRI, but have to wait until the morning. They are keeping her overnight, and will do the MRI in the morning. Her hand and arm are back to normal, she can move them and talk and everything. However we don't know why this happened and I'm so scared. We won't know any answers until after the test tomorrow morning and then they have to wait for the results and all that fun stuff. Anyways I can't sleep cause I am worried about my baby girl and just wanted to ask for the ones that do pray to say one for Breanna and hopefully this will be something simple and not something serious.

Okay so I'm at home just waiting...last update I got they were going to do the MRI and then it's suppose to be like an hour for the results and then waiting to talk to the doctor and all that. So Gabe and I are making her cookies, I'm suppose to be making some for Christmas Eve anyways but Gabe and I have decided to make some just for her. Got all kinds of spinkles and chocolate and white chocolate chips, so she's gonna get a big variety of christmas feel better cookies. Hopefully I'll hear something soon.

I hope the doctors will return with good news. Here in our city, a school was shut down because over 100 students were home sick from vomiting/diahrea. I haven't heard any symptoms similar to yours but maybe this virus that's going around triggered something within your niece. It almost sounds like she had a mild stroke or meningitis.
Let us know how she is. Hugs |

Okay so we found out she has Trichinellosis.
Basically she ate some undercooked pork and ended up having a worm trying to live in her. It ended up in her brain and is what caused the seizure. She's being put on seizure medication and was sent home (actually this weekend she goes to her mom's the meth addict who lost custody of her). They said it should take 2 to 3 weeks to get it out of her system. She may have more seizures but as long as they are under 3 minute's it's nothing to worry about. If they are longer she needs to go back to the hospital. Hopefully the medication will prevent the seizures. Bottom line, she's going to be okay. She is going to go see a neurologist and get an EEG and then a follow up MRI in like 3 weeks. She should be just fine though! Thank you all for your prayers and concern. We're all just so gratefully this is all it is. What is trichinellosis? Trichinellosis, also called trichinosis, is caused by eating raw or undercooked meat of animals infected with the larvae of a species of worm called Trichinella. Infection occurs commonly in certain wild carnivorous (meat-eating) animals but may also occur in domestic pigs. |

How scary for you and your family, Amy.
Your update sounds promising, though. I really hope everything continues to improve like the doctors say. Keep us informed. In the meantime, you'll definitely be in my thoughts. |

We don't know the doctor said it could of been something she ate years ago, which is just crazy to think you could eat something years ago and this thing has been in her body for that long. However I bet my brother won't be making pork chops again anytime soon. I'm just so glad she's going to be okay. This has definately put things in perspectic for me though. All the small things I was stressing over just aren't that important right now. I'm just so relieved she'll be okay. She's gone through so much already and she's such a strong little girl. I was sitting with her in her room last night and it was just the two of us. Her mom went out to smoke a cig and she told me that her mom probably left. I told her no she just stepped outside and she said, I know she went to smoke, but she probably left. Oh it was so sad to hear my baby convienced that while in the hospital scared and waiting for test results that her mom probably just left. She's so used to her just leaving and not being dependable that anytime she walks out of the room she's afraid she's not coming back. I so just want to beat some sense into her momma's head but you just can't get through to a meth addict. Anyways I'm rambling now but it's good to get all these thoughts out. Thank you all for your prayers! ![]() |
