So I'm so pisseddddddd right off right now.
My car broke . . . again! Yes I know considering that it has 128,000 miles on it that I shouldn't be surprised but damn it, I am. NO warning or anything. I stop and get gas after work, drive 30 minutes to Kai's daycare, shut my car off and go in to get Kai.

I get Kai in her seat (after her obsession with these damn tent worms) and turn the key . . . . strangest fricken noise I've ever heard. It turns over and makes this tink-tink sound and stahls. Try 3 more times, stahls again. Finally get it to go but with a loud tink-tink sound, and it stahls at the end of the daycare driveway. So I call the local repair shop where I always take my car and they say go ahead and drop it off, we'll take a look tomorrow. They are always so friendly. He says its probably a wheel bearing. (He's usually right).

So I drive 20 minutes to the repair shop, drop off my car and have my mom give me a ride home. Only she sees that I'm extremely pissedddddd off so she gives me her keys and says to go do my shopping and keep the car for the weekend. It was nice.

So I'm sitting here this morning waiting for the place to open so I can call at 10 to see if they looked at it yet.

I'm so so peeved. So now I'm canceling my plans to go to Disney and I'm going to try to see if my sister will let me borrow the money to fix my car. I hate asking. Otherwise, I'd have to quit my job and stay home. Which is how I felt last night.

I know that I can get my car fixed and such and I know that my sister is nice enough she will probably let me borrow the money but my God . . . I felt just unconsolable last night. I melted right down and started crying. I woke up at 4:30 and immediately burst into tears.

I can't afford a new car until Fall and I just need it to hold out until November and I'll be fine. Just disappointed

But I keep repeating "just keep swimming" in my head. I know it might sound stupid but it helped me smile this morning so that's good.

Of course when I'm on my way to take the car to the repair shop, Kai is in the back seat and as I'm talking to BAmy on the phone, Kai says "momma you need a new car!" THank you Kai. Momma didn't know that. lol

Timing belt with chain - $200
Driver's side front tie rod - $250
Total to fix my damn car - $500

Sister said she would loan me the money - $500

Knowing that my car may last a while longer - priceless and some vodka. lol


Yes HB I know but I was going to pay the $800 for Disney with my stimulus check and now I'm gonna have to pay my sister instead. So no Disney as of now I guess.

While I'm relieved that I can fix my car, I'm feeling weird about not being able to go to Disney. I really want to and I'm thinking that if I really try, I can pull it off. I am trying to be optomistic and I know that if I really hold back on my frivolous last minute spending, I could do it.

Oh Sarah, I know just how this feels. I was going thru this at the exact time my ex left. Like, okay, I cannot pay the mortgage, bills are piled up AND now my car dies too. Actually it was my mother's car. My car had died months before (and years back I had a blown engine on a car I was still paying for too) and I was driving her old car. But I'm there, like, how much more can I take? Similar belt problem, and needing hundreds of dollars I couldn't spare. Well, my brother blows in like a knight in shining armor, with some retired mechanic who brought me a new belt and asked for $25 for the job. There is a God.

I am so sorry smshy, I am the same way, I hold on for so long and then something happens and I break down. After I have a good cry I tell myself OK, Paula calm down, everything always works out!! DO NOT CANCEL DISNEY!!! You need that trip. Let's see your options... 1) You can junk your car-that should bring in about $250-$300. 2) We have a mothers to work program that takes donated cars and gives them to parents who need a car in order to go to work-check with your local social services agency. 3) I am taking that you can not afford a car payment. I have horrible credit from a divorce and can not get a car loan, but I can get approved to lease a car. I looked at the bottom of the line car-$180 a month. 4) about three years ago, my dad took out a low interest loan and bought me a car on it $3,500. I made payments to him. I do not know if any of these options are viable for you but wanted to throw out some suggestions. Remember, everything always has a way of working out!!!

Okay I did have a great big cry, a huge blow out with my stepmom who after me telling her to leave me alone right now, she got a big FU from me then she continued talking and my dad joined in. I cried forever today. Couldn't get a hold of one of my best friends because she as well was having a shittiass day.

So the developments are: my car is junk, done, finito. BTW, It actually has 228,000 miles 228,000 miles on it, not the number previously posted. It was 10 years old and i loved that car for the most part. I will post the final pictures of it. I am junking it. My uncle towed it to his house to see what he can do as he knows a bit about cars and more than likely (99% IMO) I will scrap it for about $300.

There is a donation program here but there's a waiting list and I dont qualify; I make above the limit for state help for everything!

Secondly, my stepmom gave me her van. lol Which basically isn't too bad but not my dream vehicle. No AC but I will try to get that fixed sometime in the near future. Its free! I dont have to pay the insurance and my parents are basically taking pity on me. Which is nice I must say. I cannot make a car payment now but my plan is to save what would have cost me in insurance and rent, until Fall when I can
actually afford a car payment. I am going to deposit this money into a separate savings so that I can't touch it.

Disney is not canceled. However the lady that is setting it up may cancel is because she can't afford it, I'm banking on this!!! As I really would rather have a nice car in the fall than go to Disney. Either way, I will pay for it if we still go otherwise, if the lady cancels then we aren't going. I'm okay either way with it.

Hope you don't get too down. Too bad we still don't have horses anymore to get around. Just feed them right and keep it happy and our kids would friggin love em. Although there would be no DVD players. If I could trade my car for a horse I would but alas "the man would shut me down".
