Hello

I'm a single dad of two, b11 and g13. I have 100% custody. There mother has bipolor issues. She use to be in town, but has left. This is the kids first mothers day with out her.

I tell them that she has "issues" and its not because of them she left. She has a hard time making decisions. She loves them but has a hard time loving herself.

Question?? Good answer, bad answer, do you have a better answer??? Also, how should I handel mothers day? I planned to wear a dress and wig...you know as a joke. We tend to joke about serious subjects in my family...bad idea?

Need a female point of view here...

Hey Billy,
Good to see a local person...not to many of us on here.

My Kids' mom has "issues" as well. I suggested to my kids (the first year) that they make something for her....anyway; trying to instill the idea, that sometimes you give, or honor "the position or title, or place of honor" instead of just the person.

My kids decided to make her a Music Video of Home Movies, ....of moments she missed ....it's pretty heartwreching considering what they had just been through a few months prior...but they did a good job, and have continued to do so each year since.

Hope that helps.

And Welcome to the forum. Welcome

LOL love the wig and dress idea. That's funny.

However on a more serious note, I'm going along the lines with Paul . . . have them make her a card or something and just keep it. That way they can kind of celebrate mother's day.

I dont mean to be the rain cloud but I think its gonna be hard either way. I would suggest just trying to spend quality time with your kids that day more than you normally would maybe.

Maybe they could write a poem expressing their feelings, just as a keepsake. They may even get to give it to her one day.
