I just thought I see what every one had planned for the holiday weekend. I have been so tired with two wedding that I have. I have not even thought about what I should do with my 2 year old. Any ideas?

I'm trying to avoid the traffic jam in those fireworks sights. We found a hill where a lot of other people park and take out lawn chairs outside our house where you can see the fireworkds at a distance. It's like a big tailgait party.

When my kids were younger, and we didn't have/were company, we would go to a parade in town, then hang out at the pool followed with grilled hotdogs on the patio and have lemon aid with smores.

We usualy go camping and then drive into a town (Heber) that is nearby for their show where we get to sit right under the fireworks show. We won't be back from our honeymoon until the 4th so we will go to our local Firemans BBQ (the best around) and watch the works show here.

When I can I like to put my boat in on the 3rd and stay out until the 5th. There is a place where I anchor for the night of the 4th and watch the fireworks that are shot off a barge across the river. You can feel when the are shot off and when the explode in the air. After its over I wait until everybody else leaves and then hit the bunk.

Haven't been able to do that in a few years and really want to do it with my 3 youngest, but wont be able to this year.

There is a pic of the boat on myspace.

Frowner We don't get a real 4th since it's mid week this year we only get the one day!!! grrr...I've gotten spoiled with the two day holidays for the 4th of July. If it isn't terribly hot I'll take the kids up to see the fireworks at the River park. I may see if they are doing fireworks the weekend before at the lake and take the kids up for the evening.

I so need to get camping gear!

I haven't done that in soooooo long, I think I'm going to aim to get on the lake with the boys next year. I would add some of those cold drinks and a mini grill on deck.

My round bottom camper sits on a trailer and can go most any where. I usually stay in the Columbia River but would like to go up to sail other places when my crew grows up.

The boat is a 1982 Catalina 22, swing keel, poptop with full lines and rails, 3 sails with a single reef. It has a head and galley and will sleep 5.

There is a C22 NSA web site if you want to see more pics. The boats are very affordable for what they can do.

Dale,

I don't know why I didn't catch the part that you sailed the first time.

After reading your post last night, I had soooooo many fond mememories of sailing --(before I had children) I grew up with my very own Hobie cat SmilerSmilerSmiler and one of my high school friend's dad used to sponser a boat for the Kenwood Cup. Those were great memories.

I have a very funny one about sailing and the 4th of july and it was on a Catalina too... but I'm not sure if I'll bore you LOL.
