"Forever" At A loss for Words - NOT! |
Not sure if I missed it (has anyone posted this subject already ?), and since this is the time to get to know you better...
I love Science Fiction, and some Fantasy. My favorite authors are Orscon Scott Card (I have read all his books and I am always and forever waiting for his next book to come out in paperback), and of course Isaac Asimov. I also read basically any good novels, just give me a good story. Can't very well read short stories or even newspaper articles, it just doesn't catch my attention or I keep concentrating on the bad writing. And my favorite these days is ....SFV |

Well I've already posted my books in the Book Forum - no one's been interested in them though .. lol
Oh well, whatever tickles your fancy! Ps: never heard of Orscon Scott. Then again, I'm not really into Science Fiction. I do however, like reading John Edward - psychic medium. If you believe in ghosts than you'll enjoy his reads.. |

I read some of the same authors as Mark.J such as Clive Cussler,Tom Clancy and Dale Brown. But I will also read a book if it catches my 'eye' and it has a decent revue.

I like Joyce Carol Oats. Her shorts can keep your attention. Not alot of fiction though. Right now I am reading 'America' by Jon Stewart and 'The ADD Answer' by Dr. Frank Lawliss. The older I get the harder it is for me to read just for pleasure. I have to get something out of it more than just a good story. Sad for me....

Oh, yes, I am reading an interesting book too, at the moment:
'60 million frenchmen can't be wrong, or 'why we like France but not the french.' a lot of information about France, the authors (A french canadian/american couple) are comparing the french system to the US. Can be fun at moments. |

I love John Grisham and Tom Clancy!!! I love a good thriller/mystery! I don't get to read much for fun, but love to read posts here on SFV when I do! Ok! Let's face it! That seems to be everyday. I mean look at the number of posts! I have been writing for a long time, and hope to finally finish the book I started a long time ago, very soon.

May I ask what your book is about ?
What's the title ? What type of book is it ? I am full of admiration . As everyone I suppose, I have tried myself as a writer, but never got past the 10 or 20 first pages, just an out of inspiration and ideas (even when I tried my biography |

I started the book quite a while ago! I actually have 2 that I've started, and not finished yet! One is about being a single mom and the struggles I've faced w/raising my son alone. It is filled w/stories starting w/how I met his father and ended up pregnant to present. Hopefully I will get this one finished and ready for a publisher to read really soon. The other is based on something that happened to a friend of mine and her family. I'm telling it from an outsider's point of view. The oldest son was accused of something that never really happened because the man that lived across the street was derranged and full of hatred. It was an awful story that began on September 11th, 2001 when the tragedy happened here. This kid, who was 17 at the time, also found out that day that he has a rare blood disease that there is no cure for and will eventually paralize him. It is a sad story w/a semi-happy ending, if I ever finish it! This family has been waiting on me all this time to finish it! I also write tons of poetry! What can I say? I love to write more than read!

Thanks! (That was meant as a compliment, right? J/K!) I know it seems like alot, but my brain goes a million miles a minute, and it helps to write it down or type it out! Sometimes I can focus only a few minutes on one subject and then have to move onto another which will keep my focus for hours. Just depends on the mood I'm in!

Ty's mom - it's inspiring to hear about your book. I've often thought about writing myself. I write poetry too.
All in fun - it passes time. Maybe we should have a poetry thread - ones we've written ourselves? |

Sidney Sheldon, Jackie Collins(yes, my mind is in the gutter at times!lol)and historical romance novels, they actually have a lot of action in them and I have learned a lot about history. Not only that, since I am never going to meet the kind of man I would like-at least I can read about someone else doing so!
About writing, I've always wanted to write too and have a lot of great ideas, but I can never do the actual writing-I have a problem putting it all together! |
