OK, this is marketed as a YA (young adult) book but I read Peeps by Scott Westerfeld this summer and it was seriously the most interesting vampire novel I'd read in years.

I haven't read Anne Rice since before Tale of the Body Thief was published by I loved the first three when I was in high school.
