I am a single mom-to-be. I am about 31 weeks along and recently was in labor and delivery the last couple of days due to being sick and have contractions. My mom is going to be my labor coach but I live 5.5 hrs from her. I am a little worried I have NO support system up here I am working full time and going to school full time. So I am wondering if anyone has any good advice!

Hello and welcome to the site,

I don't know how much help I can offer, as I'm a man, but it sounds like you're doing amazingly. Going to school and working full time while pregnant must be very hard. You should be very proud of yourself.

What are you studying in school? I was teenage dad, and I have to say that going to school is what led to a better life for me. Keep it up! Even if you have to give up work and go into debt, it is worth it to finish your degree.

Later,
Bobby

I am currently in nursing school and will be finished in december. So not long after she is born I will be working 3 days a week and a mom 4 days a week.

I guess my worry is that I wont have a coach in time for labor and my doc really does not like that I dont have a support system where I am living now!

Nursing school...super choice! Seriously...I've known many single moms that have done well in nursing. It's a very employable field that pays well. Is there a chance that you can move closer to your family once you finish school? It seems like you should be able to get a job most anywhere.

I can imagine how tough it would be to go through labor without a support system. From the tone of your posts, however, you seem to be very calm. Maybe your doc could suggest a source of support in your area? There may be a group for single moms? I'm sorry that I can't be more help.

Later,
Bobby
