Getting My Feet (Board) Wet
Posted
Hi there, I'm new to the Single Parents Network. I've chose Mama Griz cuz I was a mean old grizzly bear while I was pregnant. I was pregnant and alone too, and my little one is now three months old. Alot of people suggested abortion, and alot of people got all flustered when they asked where the dad was - I was pretty point blank in saying he wasn't in the picture. When you're on your own, it doesn't feel like anyone is as excited as you are, or that anyone wants to talk about kicks and flutters and heartburn as much as you do. And going to those prenatal classes on your own pretty much sucks. I had alot of bad thoughts, and I worried all the time about motherhood, my baby's health and the father's rights. I've still got issues about trust and being bitter and plain old worrying all the time. But now I'm kinda thankful. I don't know how the married ones do it! It's so nice to just have baby and me to look after. Baby never notices if I don't vacuum, and if I eat pizza twice a week, no one complains. Sure I was the only one around to get up in the night, but then again, the midnight snuggles are all mine. It's still tough, and I've lost 'friends'. But I am so excited to take baby camping and to museums and read books and watch movies. I'm doing this on my own financially too but my family has really kicked in the support now that my little one is here. I could never have done it without my internet forums to know that other people just like me have gone through the same things. That's my lengthy intro, and I hope to meet and make new friends and help out where I can. So . . . hi.

Courage doesnt always roar, sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow."
