I saw it yesterday and for once didn't reread the book ahead of time. LOVED it. That said, I'm not bringing my five year old to see it no matter how much she best. DVD sure...lol...won't be as intense for her.

Little late to reply, but I must say, the book was 100x better than the movie. I was very disappointed after having read the book just beforehand. That's okay, though. The dvd is supposed to be packed with 15 extra minutes of missing pieces from the movie. Anyone who is curious about the books, you MUST read them! I think that she is phenomenal writer. You are never too old to read Harry Potter. The movies are great, but the book makes so much more sense, since it has the time to go over stuff. I've read books after the movies too, and it just makes more sense of everything. Yeah...I made the mistake of bringing my six-year-old to see Order of the Phoenix. What was I thinking? Harry Potter does get into more terrifying trouble the older he gets. More than the fear-factor, though, kids just arent' as interested in the later Potter movies as the earlier ones. They aren't as "cute" and fun for them, they are complicated, confusing, and scary.

quote: TOTP is the largest book in the serise and one of the best, there is no way they could have put all that was going on in movie form. It would have been six hours long if they tried, and still wouldn't have all that went on in it.
You're right. Still, I wish that there had been something with Kreecher and Dobby and maybe some more with Prof. Umbridge. The book proved her to be so much more wicked than she was in the movie. You're right, the book was huge and there would be no way to put it all in the movie. Still, after reading the book I was disappointed. Can't have it all though.

quote: I look forward to reading them. I love to read! I used to own hundreds of books. I miss those!
quote: I am going to read the books someday but right now school books seem to be taking over. I have 14 days until the new semester starts and I still haven't gotten Kai on a schedule that she will work with But that's another matter.
Are you in college? Me too. I start tomorrow! I took Order of the Phoenix with me to school and read it in between classes when I was bored or had a break. It took me months to read it in between trying to read the bag of textbooks, but I finally finished it before the movie hit the theatres. It's one of those books you can pick up anytime and not really feel like you have to recap or reread anything. She's SUCH a great writer. It was my favorite book so far. Although, I really did love Prisoner of Azkaban (the movie), I'm sure I'd love the book. I haven't read that one yet.
