I am New to SFV

I am a single mother who works full time and goes to college part time. I am working on my marketing degree. The father of my two youngest girls is never around. He has a new girlfriend and she is more important than his kids and it hurts me so much to see how much he is hurting our girls. My oldest daughter has a wonderful dad, but he lives 200 miles away, so she doesn't get to see him a lot. So I am basically on my own with everything that has to with my kids. I would just like to find others in my situation to talk to. It gets overwhelming because it seems that everyone around me is happily married and doesn't really understand what I go through on a daily basis just to keep going. Hope to hear from other single parents in Missouri or any where in the states.

I'm new here and saw your posting first thing...
I'm Missouri- NW of Kansas City.
I understand. I don't have it quite as bad, having one child 21 and my youngest 13 in my hands most of the time, except for every other weekend. I'm attending to his afterschool functions (this week, everynight!) and at that crucial age don't leave him alone so the women look at me funny when I decline their parties, and afterwork gatherings...but they all mostly have husbands at home, or their kids are older and working, or they simply have family to help. My mom is passed and dad's in a home. I have no other family. I can't get a relationship going because of my committment to my son. I only date when he is visiting his dad- I just don't bring guys around him or choose he be exposed to that part of my life. So, yes- its a delima!

I am new to the board, too. I live in SW Missouri and am looking for friends in a single parent situation to be able to support and encourage one another. You are right that if someone has not walked this path, they do not have a clue! Feel free to PM me I also use MSN Instant message if you have it.
