I work in a daycare center and I do not feel like I recieve any respect from the other teachers or from the parents. People are very rude in the way that they talk to me and I do not feel like anyone values my opinion. Does anyone have advice on how to stand up for yourself and get respect without making enemies?

What is your position and do you have a good relationship with the director/owner?

How long have you worked there? Do you have a history with either the parents or staff? Why do you think they don't respect you?

hm,..when I feel like I have trouble at work I usually observe myself and the other people and try to find out which one has a problem with me...and why.

What people say you should do is TALK to the people. But honestly, I don't feel this ALWAYS helps, because often it's just very temporary effects..anyone has a bad day. If you talk forever and apologize for everyone of your bad days you will never finish, will you.

Not sure which one is better in your case..hm..not much help I guess.

Maybe observe, then make a written list of the specific problems, and then start by talking in private to the person you know best.
