Hello single parents,
I decided to throw this topic out to the masses and see if anyone else is in a better situation that I and if so, could you offer some insight.
In December of last year my company was forced out of business (thank you 9-11) and since that time..I have been in the wonderful world of unemployment. On December of this year..our lovely administration disolved all benefits to some 22,000 people. Well, I was one of them.
I know, you are thinking aren't you looking for a job. Well, anyone who knows this area is just laughing at that point.
I have three degree's, 16 years mgmt experience, a certification in insurance,(which is all commission sales) oh yes and I sub teach. The problem I am having is..there are no jobs in this area that are stable and with the 3,000 jobs that I am doing to keep my lights on..I can't qualify for anything. (then again..if anyone's system is like that of PA..that's not really a bad thing anyway).
So what are the single parents doing to survive out there?
Just would like some other's insights Roll Eyes

I'm not sure if I'm responding the correct way... I don't undersantd where I should type in my response but.... I really take things step by step, day by day... I work, but my job is very stressful and so corporate that it's literally making me sick. What has helped me is visualizing... meaning... write down on a piece of paper what you want in your life and in another paper what you want out... don't be shy with your requests, either! Pick a moment when you are with yourself... make sure the atmosphere is clean and organized and really shut your eyes and visualize where you want to be and start writing it all down... Then, after you've done this, prioritize the list in a realistic manner and start working with your visions as attainable as they can be... meaning, if you visualize something that is too far out of your reach at this time... what would be the first step to make that happen and make that first step your priority... get it?
Please, don't think that this is some mumbo jumbo... it really works for me! For the last three years I've been wanting to buy a house and at the end of this month I will close on my brand new townhouse... hard work.. moved a lot to save... have not, literally, bought new clothes in a long time... but saved up money... very little at a time...
I've also wanted to be a jazz singer and I am doing it part time now... it's going well... but I really felt it in my gut...
anyway, that's what I do when I've got the blues with it all... to survive... plus, I have not dated in almost two years and it has made me focus on myself and my family... not that I have not been asked on dates but, giving myself the chance to be alone has really put me on a positive thinking method and I feel like nothing is going to stand in my way...
Hope this message is not too long! Plus, I do a lot of YOGA, it's great and the main purpose of yoga is to "get rid of the cause of pain & suffering" and to "be yourself". I'm sure you know how hard it is to do this in this society... but,if you stick to it it will all come to you, I promise! If the cause of your pain & suffering is not having a job... find a way to distract yourself to re-discover who you are so that you can find what you're looking for. If you don't know what you're looking for that is the first step of finding what you're looking for... not knowing... blah,blah...
Good luck!
