Hello. I am new to the group, but looking forward to chatting with everyone. I was wondering if any of you are business owners. Specifically if you run your business from home.

Welcome to SFV. Don't own a business, so I can't relate to that, but did want to say hi!

Hi Graydaygreetings,
Glad you are able to join us. I own 2 business sort of out of my home. I started there and now they are on there own but I still do 90% of the paperwork from home. May I ask why are you asking?

Sure. I've started one business and I'm looking to start another one, but I'm still in the very early stages. I have two kids and I was just wondering if any other women are in the same or similar position that I can ask advice and what not.

Great! Are your children school aged? Were you a SAHM before you started your business?

Does a remodel company count? Office ran from my house though obviously the work happens elsewhere.

Yes Don that would count. You get a tax deduction for your office in your home so it counts. I surely don't have my rentals in my home. Oh gosh could you imagine? Eeker
Hey I need someone who is good at remodeling. How much would a trip charge be?

Hehehehehe, I've been tempted before to take on jobs out of state. Last time was a couple here getting ready to retire. Selling off their rentals one at a time after having me do some pretty nice things in them. They're down to their last house right now, and showed me pics of their retirement home/property in Ohio. Offered the guest house to stay in, stocked personal little lake to fish in......

Well I could keep you busy. I do a lot of it myself but am getting a little to busy to keep it up.
If it helps I have a little lake to fish in too. Good size bluegil and some good size catfish. I actually caught a 6 pound catfish. I could not believe it.
I also have some horses your daughters could go riding while you work.
Plus I am closer than Ohio. Not by much but closer.
If only we lived in a smaller country. Big Grin

I think your idea is a great one, Greyday.

I am in the process of starting my own business as a virtual assistant. I provide administrative support to small business owners and contractors. Basically, I'm an outsourced secretary for hire. (I only sell Tupperware and Tastefully Simple on the side) I get to work from home and play mom which is awesome!

You guys and your snow. Makes me glad I live south of you. I am not a cold nature person. When my husband died I considered moving further south, but decided against it because all the in-laws are here and I don't want to take the kids from them. Plus I kind of like them too.
Rental is going okay. I have 2 houses open right now. Want to considering moving further south to get out of the snow? Smiler They should be ready the first of the month. You even have a choice 2 bedroom in town or you can have a bigger 2 bedroom on 3 acres.
