I don't know specifics on the laws in the U.S., but from what I do know there are some loopholes they might try to use. No matter what the case, though, they need to be very clear about what their intentions are for you.

Check out the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Web site at www.eeoc.gov. There's a link along the left under "Discrimination by Type" for pregnancy.

There are also links to laws and information on how to file claims.

Best of luck with this. It's so unfortunate when someone has to go through something like that after what's supposed to be one of the happiest events in life.

It's the Family Medical Leave Act..

http://www.employer-employee.com/fmla.html

here's the dept of labor.

http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla/

There are cerain requirements that you would have to meet to be eligible, like hours worked in the year before, the amount of notice you gave your employer..

Don't sweat it too much, and enjoy your baby!

Thank you!!!!! I went to the first site you listed and it was of great help...especially because it is written out in normal english and shows both the rights of the employee and the employer.....I have definately fallen within all guidelines necessary that there is no possible way I can lose this....as much as I love my job I will do whatever I have to to take care of my family even if it means fighting them to the fullest extent the law allows!!!!
