I'm having a hard time finding motivation to do anything. I want to try and move, get my girls into a better neighborhood, but I just feel so overwhelmed. I don't know if it's better to push myself to start packing or wait until I feel better to really start the moving process. I do suffer from on-going depression, I take medication for it, but I don't know why I'm having such a hard time starting the moving process. It's a positive step, so why am I having a hard time trying to move? Maybe I'm more depressed than I thought?

Do you already have a place to go? If so I say just get packing! Once you start you will become more motivated, I always find the getting started the hardest part. It isn't fun, I just went through it but you will get motivated as you count up the boxes in the corner and see you are making progress. Start with all the stuff on the walls... take it all down and you will have to pack it to get it out of your way! Then when you look at bare walls you will remember, Oh Yeah, we are out of here!

It is a positive step, but a big step and a transition and with 3yr old twins not simple! But, you can't finish until you begin!

Alicia, do you have someone to talk to about your depression? It's really tough trying to be there for your kids all the time and never feeling like you have time for yourself. Do you feel that way?

Motivation is another form of fear (for me at least) and fear to me is change. If you know in your heart that moving will make you feel safer latch onto that feeling to get motivated for yourself and your girls.

Sue is right. Baby steps to get started and all of sudden you're done and onto taking care of the next set of issues that arise. Good luck in getting through this part of your life.

Thanks guys,

I am seeing someone about my depression. My fear is that my place won't sell and I don't want to look for another place until mine sells. So I just need to get started. I don't know why change is such a hard thing. But thanks for listening.

Oh you know, I waited to pack until mine sold. I didn't pack until the first papers were signed and the inspection had been done... then I WENT FOR IT. I found one and didn't sign on anything until I found a buyer myself. It is all so scary.
