I work for a parenting publication. I'm writing an article on time management for single parents.

What is your favorite (most effective) time managment tip?

I'm on a deadline! need some replies now!

leave as little as possible 'to be done later', or it will never get done:

e.g. baby's bath: when his bath is finished, leave the bathroom in a state so that you don't have to go back again and tidy up later, or
clean up the kitchen after meals while baby's playing - if you wait for him/her to be asleep, you will never get any rest for yourself, or
throw away used nappies immediately (do not forget in a corner !)....etc.

I know it doesn't seem like it, but you'll find help at flylady.net. Getting your home and life in order has been the best time saver I've ever found and I've read/tried it all.
