hi everyone my name is daniella i am a 17 yr old student from sydney
i am researching for a personal interest project i have for society and culture.
i have chosen to do it on single parents and how the role of women has changed over the last 30 yrs
i was wondering if you could give me some advise or even personal opinions on how u think this traditional household/ wife image is diminishing with single parents now being mothers, workers, wanting the best 4 there kids and a social life for them elves too or how governments lack in childcare, allowances not allowing single parents to achive all their goals ,ect if u have anything or any stories, views to help me out i would really appreciate it thanks gals

Daniella, I am sure that I do not speak for everyone but I wanted to give you my take on the whole 'single mother' thing. I have been a single mother for almost 16 months now and absolutely love it! Granted there are times when it is really hard, but life is about challenges. You mentioned something about the lack of government funding for childcare. I understand why this might be a big issue for some. However, I look at it this way. I am the one who got pregnant. The government did nothing to cause my pregnancy and, as far as I am concerned, my daughter is not their responsibility. She is mine and it is up to me to see that she has the things that she needs. I get really frustrated when I see people on welfare wearing name brand, designer clothes, or buying "unnecessaries" for themselves, or smoking, the list goes on. Being a parent is about sacrifice, whether you are a single parent or have a spouse to help you out. I work really hard for the things that my daughter and I have. We have what we need and every once in a while she will get a special treat. The most important thing is that we have fun together and she knows I love her. The government could never give her that.
