I am New to SFV |
Hey guys,
As I am sure I don't have to tell you, it can be very dificult for a father to gain custody in courts where bias has long favored the mother. Also, I am sure you are all aware of the lack of information in the subject for rathers. What books that are out there are all written by lawyers and don't adequately take a father's perspective. To remedy this, I am in the early stages of a book for single fathers. Here is a paragraph from the proposal sent to the agent: "Be the Father You Want the Judge to See: A Guide to Gaining Custody" is written from the perspective of a father who has gone through the long and tumultuous process of a court battle and come out as custodial parent. It is a mixture of process and narrative which approaches the topic from the viewpoint that a father needs to really be the kind of father to whom the judge would award custody and not just look like it for the sake of court. It details what it takes to be that kind of father and how to let the judge then see it. Instead of offering up a chess game of legal maneuvering, this book persuades the reader to approach the issue by changing his mindset and behavior. Instead of purely anecdotal evidence as provided in the legal perspective books, this book will give an in-depth case study which serves to humanize a topic that tends to be treated in a sterile manner by professionals in the field. Thus, the reader should not feel like he is being talked at from behind a desk after having waited for an hour in a reception area; rather, he should feel like he is having a discussion with a friend who has been in the same situation. My questions are these: 1) Do you see a need for such a book? and 2) What information would be most helpful to you in it? You can post or email me. Thanks guys. |

i saw a book like this at barns and nobel. i looked at it for a few and it was very interesting. it has serveral reasons why the courts gave coustody to the mother. it also gave a small history of reasons which actually angered me such as, courts belived the women make better parents, courts also belived fathers are working more, they also belived women are normally seen as victems of a divorse, and several others. but it also said around the mid 90's, alot of men formed privet interest goups and lobbied and got more rights in the political arena. now, i have several friends who have 50/50. i think that is great. that is what i have. i think it is only fair that way. but these are only my thoughts. |
