No one can stop me now!!!!

Hello,

I am a senior psychology major at Pomona College, a well regarded liberal arts school in Southern California. It is a part of the Claremont Consortium along with Claremont Graduate University. I have been living with my single-father since 9 years of age.

Throughout my college career, I have noticed the lack of information about the single father household. Both sociological and psychological research has done little to understand this family structure. It is probably due to the fact that only about 5-7% of U.S. families are headed by single fathers.

For my senior thesis, I am required to conduct an independent and original study. I feel that this is the perfect opportunity to investigate the single father household. I am mostly interested in emotional development of people like me, young adults from single father households.

I was wondering if it would be okay for me to solicit participants from your website. Because there are so few of us, it is difficult for me to find others on my college campus. I am using a "snowball" or "word-of-mouth" sampling method. So far, I have e-mailed all of my friends at other universities, including the University of Puerto Rico, and I still do not have enough participants.

I am looking for people aged 18-27 who lived with a single father at least since 13 years of age. Any gender, ethnicity, nationality, economic status is encouraged to participate.

If someone is able to participate, I will send them a link to the survey on "survey monkey". It will be completely anonymous and they will have the option of volunteering time to answer some open-ended follow up questions at a later date.

Please let me know if you will be able to assist me.

Thank you very much,

Doris L. Lee
