Hi my name is Janna! I am a single mom of a 4 year old boy. I am also a college student and i am doing a research project on the effects of divorce on children. I am looking for positive feedback, because everything i am finding is negative. I am personally very proud to be a single parent and i don't think my child will be screwed up for life, contrary to popular belief. So i need all the help i can get to write this paper in a positive way. If you know of any good websites or of some good books or articles please let me know.

Thank you for any help you can provide!

There is hope! Lots of newer research is showing that it is not the divorce, but the conflict, which is most damaging to children. Children actually may do better because the stress of an antagonistic relationship may be replaced with a more stable environment. There is also no doubt that children with an abusive parent (whether to parent or child) fare better after a divorce. As for the more run of the mill divorces-- isn't it common sense that happier parents have happier children? There are a lot of variables- money, confict, access to both parents, developmental stage and understanding, etc. etc. Its all in the details.
