Hi. I am 16 years old. I have an 18 month old boy. I am a writer. I have written poetry and worked at my craft for over six years. I have been published in anthologies twice, but now I want to write my own book of poems. I have them all ready to go. I just don't know where to go from here. I don't know how to go about getting my poems published. Can anyone help me?

Hi because of your age... try contacting literacy USA.. I live in Canada so it is called literacy Canada here. There should be information at the local library too. I wrote a children's book when I was 16 and too this day have not found an illustrator however the library did have lots of information that helped me into looking for an illustrator and a publisher.

Good Luck!!!

Hi Lux,
Look for small publishing houses. The competition can be fierce with the big ones. Look online especially.

No matter what you see, no matter what you hear, no matter what you read...always always always get a second opinion... and then a third.

Just remember that competition is fierce and these people see more transcripts than we know and can't accept them all. Like JD said, look for the smaller publishing houses. They are always looking for the next big thing and are more likely to take on an unknown! Good luck! I'm trying to find one right now, too!
