Every one wants to find a group to get together with or a regular basis but it's soooo tough. Could you commit to a one-time event? Let's get together somewhere in Central Florida for a day or maybe for a weekend. We could have a few low cost events like a buffet dinner, a trip to Chucky Cheeese and one or two other events we come up with. Sort of a single parent convention. Anyone interested? Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a good plan! Sea World/Busch Gardens has really good deals for their annual passes for FL residents. I pay $21 per month for 3 parks (including Adventure Island) and there are NO black out dates. Ty and I try to go at least once a month. If you pack a sack lunch and take snacks, that is actually pretty inexpensive. There is always something going on in Central Florida, so it shouldn't be hard to find inexpensive outings to involve single parents and their kids!

Are you going to be chairperson of this event, tekmommy? I'm in, but only if after the holidays are over. I don't mind driving anywhere as long as it is fun for the kids and fairly inexpensive! I think the holidays are going to wipe me out!

what about single mommies to be? I would love to gain a local support system prior to the baby actually getting here.

We would absolutely welcome you to the group as a mommy-to-be! While I'm at it, welcome to the site, also! This is a great support system also and gives you the chance to know people from all over the world! There are so many fantastic people on here and tons of great support.

I hope to see more on this thread, and look forward to this event and getting to put actual faces to all the screen names and kids!

Good luck to you cmcguire10 and let us know if you need anything! BTW, how far along are you?

Sea World is a great place for the kids even when the weather is a little cooler. Who doesn't like to see the whales and dolphins play? I would definately like to see this idea planned out and carried through. I would love to meet some other single parents in the area that can relate to me as well as I relate to them.

BTW, the spelling errors happen to the best of us. We won't hold it against you!!! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

I am 7 months. Baby due on Feb 20.
I had a dr.s appointment today and found out that I have some abnormal cells, whatever that means. He wants to do a coposcopy in two weeks. I am really nervous about this. So if yall could keep me in your prayers it would be so appreciated.

You'll be fine. I had the same thing, and it turned out to just be something that my body went through during pregnancy. The colposcopy is very uncomfortable, but makes you have such a better understanding that things are fine. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers, but I have a feeling that it is just something that the hormone levels in your body is causing. Good luck w/your baby and pregnancy. Let us know what is going on. Hopefully this get together will get off the ground and you can meet new friends face to face. Big Grin

Midnight Mass is really beautiful. I've only been once, but it was something I will never forget. I hope no one from the Northern states sees that you think it was cold the other day. They think I'm crazy because I said something about sometimes needing a coat. Big Grin I'm hoping the weather cools off a bit for Christmas. It would make it a much better day.

I hope this idea hasn't been disregarded because it would be a great idea. I happen to know a couple single moms which helps me a great deal, but it would be nice to finally meet some that I've come to know on here. I include you single dads in that group, too! You guys are also important parts of this site!! Talk to you all soon, and hope the planning of this gets off the ground!!!

Well, finals wrap up for me in another week, so anytime in between that and Feb. 20th-ish would be good for me. I think if I can convince my professors to allow me to either bring the baby to class or to do internet classes, I will be able to pull off the school thing. Fingers crossed.
I would love to meet up with some more local single moms in my area. If yall know anyone from Lakeland, feel free to tell them to hop into these forums.
