Hi, my 10-year-old son is interested in starting martial arts training. Can anyone recommend a good place to go for this in Northern Palm Beach County? My sons had one karate teacher in preschool who was very inappropriate with the kids using demoralization as a discipline tactic. I'm interested in a quality program that is true to the ideology of the martial arts with respectful and competant teachers for kids.

I am not in the FL area, however, I can recommend a type of martial arts that is what you're probably looking for. There are MANY types out there, each with their own teachings...however, Tae Kwon Do is primarily based on RESPECT, which is ideal for the young learner. TKD never encourages fighting...only teaches and instills DEFUSING a conflict.

I would first encourage you to go and observe a class at the local studios in your area. Observe as many forms of martial arts possible within your desired distance. That will help you make that decision. If for some reason they don't allow viewing...don't go there. A credible studio welcomes visitors.

Thanks for the suggestions. When I was driving my kids home today from school I noticed a TKD place where kids were going in and was thinking I should go watch.

I found a great school, in North Palm Beach, my 6 year old son attends there and loves it. Its called Legacy Martial Arts, and they are very disciplined yet fun and have done a amazing job of brining my somewhat shy boy out of his shell.

They also have a great fitness kickboxing class which I like.
I attended a couple of different schools and this one is far and away the best I have ever seen. Good luck to you perhaps I will see you there.
