Hi there,
I'm a little lost in my stepford wife community and am looking for *normal* moms (preferably with daughters but not necessity) to hang out with, explore different things in the vicinity, have play dates with, etc. I am in Windermere - anything semi close to that would be great. Smiler

Thanks!

Well, being in Windemere is a challenge to itself. Was talking to a single mom the other day, and she let me in on this website, called citykids.com, loaded with all sorts of things to do, indoor, outdoor, age specific, and orlando is one of the areas in it. There are many large churches in the area, don't know if that would be of assistance, but I will also check to see if there are groups available in the metro area.

Hello Linda,

My daugther relocated to Orlando Florida about six months ago in hopes of finding work so that she could support her two daughers. She is a medical coder and was unable to find work in West Virginia. She has since found a job but that took longer than expected. Now she has run into problems with finding afordable and good daycare. She thought that Florida had an assistance plan for single mothers like West Virginia that would pay for daycare. But since has found out that not only is there a six month waiting list but when it does pay it only pays a fraction of the cost. Now with only making about 12.50 an hour there is not sufficent income to pay for daycare, rent, utilities and living expences. She also realizes that she does not have the support network of family and friends that she had in West Virginia. I tell you this only so that maybe you all would like to share ideas and suggestions. She really likes Florida but after six months and a lot of money from me to help it is fast running out.

April has two girls that are 2 and 10. Both are still in West Virginia but the two year old is relocating on the 11th to be with April. The 10 year old will continue to stay with me till school is out.

The biggest single city in the US is actually Louisville, Kentucky! Not sure if that includes single parents though. Because of so many singles they say it is the worst city to date in the US.

What ever happened to cities like in the movie Kindergarten cop where all the children's moms were single (except the one guy he threatened after bringing in his child beat up, and the principal asked him how did it feel to hit the son of a B----).

Sorry, I WISH I was in Florida right now. I'm here in central washington in the mountains. We have snow here still, so Florida would probably feel pretty good. Stuck in Stepford eh? Wink Well, you can "escape" through here-I do! Big Grin
My daughter is 7 too, so I wish I was closer to someone else with a 7 year old! Smiler
