Okay, so I know a lot of you in FL are still recovering from the latest hurricane, but I have a serious question. There is a mom from this site who's user name is Vanna. Me and Vanna grew very close after meeting on this site and have chatted almost nightly for months. She is supposed to fly out here to CA the first week of August for a visit, we've been planning it for awhile. I haven't heard from her since before the hurricane, and I am so worried. Does anyone have any news on the situation down there? Here in CA we don't get much news from the FL area, so I don't know where else to go. Is the power back up? Is there still people without power? Vanna hasn't posted since June 28th, and the last time I saw her on the messenger was a couple weeks ago. Any and all updates concerning the hurricane, the power, and if anyone knows anything about Vanna (I know its not likely) please please let me know! Thanks so much!

Sera, I just read this on another board I go to. Thought you and the other members might be interested.

"Dennis kicked our butt - Prayers are needed for homeless 07/21/05 07:20 AM

Hey Ya'll...just getting back on-line after Dennis.

I'm in N. end of Escambia County and we got hammered. We could see the sunshine in the eye as it passed just SW of us. We were IN the eye wall for over 4 hours.

If that weren't enough tornadoes ripped thru with it. You can see where 2 tornadoes came thru on either side of the house!!!! There are cleared "paths" all over the area where they came thru.

Our home is fine, but the property isn't. We've lost over 150 trees between Ivan & Dennis....and lots of shade with them. What trees are left have very few leaves.

On the brighter side, we now get a beautiful sunrise comming up over the next ridge.

We' are so lucky (and truly Blessed) we only have cosmetic damage. There we're over 10,000 ppl still homeless from Ivan and living in FEMA trailers - Dennis has added about 2,000 to that. Many of the apt. complexes and condos were destroyed in Ivan so there is no housing for these ppl until new ones are built!! Especially sad since there were several places almost ready for people to move into and Dennis caused more damage. What a mess."
