my story is a bit diffrent than most.when i was with the father of my baby i contracted herpes from him. he was a big player.while i was giving birth to my baby he was involved with another girl.when i gave natural birth to my baby they took blood samples to make sure that she hadn't gotten contracted.guess what they said it came back positive.they had to put her in icu and automatically give her antibiotics.this is my first baby i'm going through this with.they even do a spinal tap on her the results come back in two weeks and that's when they tell me if my baby girl will die, become blind,or be retarded. i cried a river but i was totally helpless there was nothing i could do to make up for my stupid mistake of not using protection.she spent 2 weeks in icu i thought she would die and i would've die right along with her but god put his hand in and saved her precious soul from it it was only superficial it did not penetrate inside her only her skin.thank god for my baby's health but think about this when you think of not protecting yourself if not for you for any one else you might bring along cause for them it could kill them.i don't wish this on my worst enemy so please learn from my mistake.

I'm sure there are not words to describe how you felt. About 9 months after my youngest girl was born, my now exhusband, told me that he had cheated on me and slept with a woman that had herpies before I got pregnant with her. I could have killed him and not thought twice about it. He had no idea the ramafications of this and thought I was stupid for blowing up at him. I didn't even have any idea about this to tell the doctors. Luckily he did not contract it from the woman he slept with so there was no harm done. Hug your baby for me!

I thought it was standard procedure that if a woman had herpes and in labour, dr's automatically perform a C-section so that it doesnt transfer over to the newborn child. I'm really surprised that the doctors allowed you to give natural birth, after knowing this medical information.

I'm glad your babies turned out healthy.

They do not automatically do a C-section..unless you are having an active outbreak. FYI

My thoughts are with you. Kiss that baby for me.
