I just wanted to share my babies birth story with everyone. I think it is pretty amazing. When I was 34 weeks pregnant, my doctor informed me that I was measuring small and that I should have another ultrasound. I went to the ultrasound and they found "layering debris" in my baby's stomach. I was in the military at the time, so they sent me to Bethesda Naval Hospital which has a very good high risk pregnancy units. While there they did another ultrasound with a perinatologist (doctor specializing in diagnosing high risk babies). From that ultrasound they told me my baby had chromosomal problems. The best I could hope for was down syndromes, but they really thought she had trisomy 13 0r 18 which both of them are fatal. They told me she had club feet, a hole in her heart, echogenic bowel(messed up intestinal tract), and that her hands would not unclench. All of these were indicators of chromosomal problems. They did a amnioscientisis but the results came back three days later, with my blood tainting the test. The perinatologist advised me to induce labor that day because they said she would die inside me and it would take too long for the next test to come back. So, I went to the hospital to induced July 10 in the afternoon. July 11th at 2:18 am Kelsi Lynn was born with no problems whatsoever!!!! My baby had absolutely nothing wrong with her, she was underweight, 4lbs 10 oz, but later the doctor explained to me from being under extreme pressure and emotional distress (my ex was supportful, not)that it can actually harm your baby. The high risk nurse that I had was so wonderful, and after Kelsi was born, she told me in her 37 years of being a high risk nurse this was only the second time the doctors have been completely wrong. So, I thank God, and my neighborhood, family and friends all had prayer chains going for me and my baby. She is the best thing ever to happen to me, and her birth let me know that God can work miracles!

That really is an amazing story and I too suffered from severe stress, causing 5 months of bedrest for me and my youngest. I am so greatful that no one misdiagonsed my baby - it must have been awful! Welcome to the board, and thank you for sharing your story.

Welcome aboard,
Your story is excellent. Good for you. My sister-in-law was told her 2nd boy was probably going to be Downs. They wanted to do an amniocentesis also, but my sister-in-law said no because she was going to have the baby no matter what. The baby was totally healthy and born without Down Syndrome. You're right, God does work miracles. Take care... Karen Smiler

What a great story. I had a high stress pregnancy which landed me on bed rest for 1 1/2 months, but nothing like that. Thank God your baby is in good health and such a beautiful name. I also love her birthday! It's the same as mine! Look out for us Cancerians, though. We can get a little "crabby"!
