Wow, didn't realize there was much chance in getting pregnant after tubes are untied...i was told by my Gyn...that if i do get my tubes tied, and one day wanted to untie them there was less than 1% to get pregnant...

Unless it depends how long the tubes were tied for?? don't know

been thinking I want to get my tubes tied...just in case i meet someone new....

In my town they dont even do epidurals. They say theres to much risk in them, I did have a scheduled c-section in the closest big town (50mins away) thats where I had all my appts and everything. But when my labour progressed MUCH faster then planned, I had to deliver au natural, twins, breech, and without my doctor!
I just wanted to say, Id recommend going wihtout it, I hate pain, and I may be biased because I didnt have to sit there for 24hrs in pain. Whatever you decide, its not worth being super stressed over, the baby is coming no matter what, there is nothing you can do about it, she/he is COMING OUT, stressing will only make it much worse on both you and the baby.
Good Luck!!

2darnsmart & SPC,
I had my tubes tied for nearly 9 years. Last October got them untied via a C-section inscision on my tummy (not uterus) and by December I was pregnant (had a misscarriage in January) then by March I was pregnant again (due in 3 weeks).
I know they like to scare people saying its so permanent but for me at least it wasn't. Well it was because I did not get pregnant for 9 years but after I got it undone we had no problems.
For my last child (9 years ago) I wanted an epederal but there were so many ladies having babies by the time they got to check me I was too far gone to have one. I gave birth on my hands and knees and felt NO pain. I had no idea that you were allowed to have a baby in any position other than on your back. I am pretty excited about having this baby naturally and utilizing different positions to ease the pain. Not that it will work or works for everyone. Don't worry the drugs will still be there if you find yourself in too much pain to deal.

Kimmie, not sure what part of ONatario you are from, but I find it strange that the doctor told you it was that risky they don't do them...chances are they had no one trianed to do the epidurals, because from what i know most local hospitals do them here in Ontario...if your in small town, i think it is probably more likely they did not have teh qualified staff to do them.

I was induced and not dialating. After 15 hours of contractions with little relief in-between, I finally broke down and got the epi. this was after all other medication options were exhausted. I ended up having a c-section anyway (I was induced because of high blood pressure. It wasn't much of a choice for me). Quite honestly, the next time around I would get the epi much sooner. It was a god-send. The thought of a needle in my spine was terrifying, but it really wasn't nearly as bad as I had expected. I was also able to get out of bed and walk around with it in. I just had to cart around my stuff with me Wink

I just finished my child birth class last night and they were insistent that you could not get out of bed with an epi.
Since I never had one I don't know.
I might try one this time but I did 3 natural so I am hoping this one will be the easiest.

I had a natural birth.
But then I live in a country that actively encourages home births.
I was planning on one but had to go into hospital cos he was a month early.
Medication during birth is not encouraged because it makes for a more difficult birth.
