Getting My Feet (Board) Wet
Posted
Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call. The house was very, very dark, so the paramedic asked Katelyn, a 3-year-old girl, to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby. Very diligently, Katelyn did as she was asked.

Heidi pushed and pushed, and after a little while Connor was born. The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry. The paramedic then thanked Katelyn for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-year old what she thought about what she
had just witnessed.

Katelyn quickly responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place, smack his butt again."

Sounds like a joke I once heard.

To answer your question would only highlight one of the western worlds biggest enigmas;

Why is it that by 3-4 years old, they can watch cartoon characters beat on each other; at ten to eleven they can handle Freddy Kruger and Jason but lightly, later, they will eat them up at the box office along with Rambo and Vin Diesel but...

heaven forbid they ever get caught watching two people getting intimate. Or the realistic results. Hmmmmmmmm...should children witness childbirth? I don't know. Confused

This is a good topic. I think it all depends on where your values and beliefs stand with this. Is it forbidden in hospitals? I don't know. Would I have my son attend? I don't think I would. In my personal experience, it just doesn't sit well with me. Some cultures it's to be expected. Do these children grow up scarred? Probably not.

My kids have seen Rabbits, Cats, Dogs, Horses being born and never had a problem with it. They thought it was cool. I even had one horse that was having trouble and needed help. They were right there helping if they could. Even though I was asked I did not allow my kids in. I feel it is very personal and private. I also had a fear that if something went wrong I would not want my kids there.
I know some people feel very differently.
