My best friends birthday was saturday and sunday is my sisters 1st yr that she has been gone(decesed). Well, I was supposed to go to philadelphia i live in wilmington to meet him to go out for his birthday so i tryied to call him to let him know i couldn't go cuz i didn't have any money but the whole time i couldn't get through (Nextel) so when i did get through it was like 1:30am so it was really late but now he is extremely upset with me because he don't think i tried to call him he thinks i was avoiding him so i didn't have to go up there but i think his bf filled his head up that if i was such a best friend then where was i? at least thats what by bf said to me when i talked to him. I called him today for easter but he didn't pick up so i left a message. after i talked to him last night i cried my eyes out. Was i wrong or what u think?

Well, it is kind of hard to know really without knowing every detail. Was it really the money or wsa it more that it was the anniversary of your sister passing being right around the corner. That IS an understandable reason to not want to go and celebrate anything, but I think I'd have just told him.

If it was about the money in my humble opinion, you had to have known sooner than just that afternoon that you wouldn't be able to afford the trip, right?

In any relationship, family, friend, love interest... the most important thing I think is to be honest and up front from the very beginning. Making plans that you can't keep because you feel bad saying no never makes anybody happier.

it was the money i work for my bf and i go to school at night so i don't make much in the 1st place my bf usually just gives me money if i need it but he didn't have it this weekend he had to pay his workers other workers so he is kind of behind on things cuz he don't get paid on time so i really didn't have it but i told him i would be there that was wrong i couldn't keep my word but i thought my money was going to be ok i didn't know till that day.

Honestly I mean what can you do if cell service isn't working.... hate the darn cell phones.

yea thats true i just feel soooo bad that i couldn't be with him on his birthday and today i'm sad for my sister and him what a bummer.

I can imagine it is one difficult day for you. Do you have any pics or anything you can take out and just let some of the memories flow, even the tears. In a strange way it can actually feel good to have a reason to mourn a bit today. Don't forget a year is not very long and it is o.k to do that. How old was she?
