Hey guys and gals,

Shannon here with an update. We are still in the hospital.. 2 days post op. Sierra is doing great. She came out of surgery on Wednesday night around 8pm. She was on a breathing tube over night because during the surgery her pressure dropped a couple of times. It wasn't so bad seeing her with that except when they had to suction it out that was scary because she looked like she was choking. They took her tube out around 10am on thursday and we spent the rest of the day in PICU. When her dr. came to see her that night he said she was doing so well that she could skip the step down unit and go straight to the floor. That made me feel good. Thursday night was a rough one. I was able to sleep while my mom stayed with her. I was amazed I slept through everything and i was on a pull out chair next to her crib. Today was a very positive day. She was able to get out of bed and be held. She smiled and played games (patty cake and how big is sierra).. Her eyes are pretty swollen which is kind of hard for her but she is adjusting. She now likes getting ice packs (or cold wet clothes) put on her eyes. Everything is going great. It really is not as worse as I thought it was going to be. Dr.s say we should go home on sunday if he feels she and I are ready. About times someone considers parent's readiness to go home and not just the childs. She is at University of Chicago Hospital which provides computers, a tv, vcr and tape player/radio in every kids room. SO I should be able to up date quite frequently. Well she is finally asleep so i should try and get some sleep. If anyone wants to email me email me at sierrasmom31103*yahoo.com as my aol account can't be accessed from these computers.

Thank you all
Shannon

I am so glad to hear that your little one is doing well! I've been keeping my eye out for a post. I will keep her in my prayers but I just wanted to say hi. Keep me posted.
