I have some helpful information on this topic if anyone is interested. Look in my profile and you'll find a link there. It gives you different options on dealing with this, as well as provide you with medication side-effects.

I hope it's ok I posted this here.

my son is 11 and he has adhd... he has been on two doses of concerta for a year and a half... his morning dose is 54 mg.. and his second which is taken at 11:30 a.m. is 36 mg... during the summer months, we went with one dose because i felt he did not need it... well, about a month ago he started with a head twitch.. psychiatrist and i decided together to stop the second dose.. well, his head twitch is not as bad but he still is doing it... his grades are slipping partially do to not being able to stay focused... the other part is due to just not wanting to do the work.. i have talked to him and it is just not helping.. he is in the 6th grade and i cannot hold his hand and write down his homework.. i also cannot make him turn it in... or bring it home for that matter.. i am just frustrated and upset... we go to see the psychiatrist tommorrow evening and i do not know what we are going to do.. i just want to sit down and cry today... how can i help him if he does not want to help himself???

Getting My Feet (Board) Wet

Hello jjawsy:
I know what you are going through. My son also has ADHD as well as ODD(he is 8) and have been through the Concerta 54mg and Ritalin 5mg. He is now on Metadate CD 10mg, and almost everyday I get some report from school about his behavior. There are times that I have cried and felt like giving him up (still do now) but I took some parenting classes and it has helped. Praying helps me when I a very depressed and angry. Setting ground rules of punishment helps me. Everytime my son breaks a rule or misbehaves, I take away something he likes. In the summer time I have been sending him to a camp that caters to children with special needs. It is sooo great, and my son comes home with new goals and a little well behaved. You should check it out: Ramapo for Children it is in NY. Hope this help cheer you up a little.

You can accomplish anything if you believe.
