Hello all! My middle baby, a three year old boy is about to be tested for autism. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me all that the test will include and how they will go about coming to their diagnosis. Any info would be wonderful!! I am a little stressed and freaked out! :-(

Hi,
i am a mother to a wonderful but over the top little boy who is just adorable. I noticed something was really wrong with him earlier on by his excessive change in tenperament from very happy to extremely violent and vise versa. He turns 4 on march 17th and still can not make a 3 word statement. Other than that he is perfect. We did his test when he just turned 2. Basically they tested his motor skills, speach, social skills, repeatition skills, they tested to see if he could match shapes , colors etc. Tried to get him to repeat words or actions that the testers did. They also tried to have him do one thing such as sitting down for a minute or two. I guess they want to see how patient the child is .Nothing to worry about , what's the worst that can happen. If your child happens to be tested anddiagnosed as autistic, you get early child intervention and there re many helpful programs. Currently Johns Hopkins autism division in baltimore, maryland is working with my son. It may cause you alot to get the right help but you can get your child insurance through the state if diagnosed that will take care of everything. If i get any more info, i will send it your way . Hang in there!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info, anything helps at this point! I have been told that it can take up to 6 hours! Jeramiah is almost three and the only two word sentance he can say is milk please and that's only by repeating me. So I knew there was something a little off. He also has weird mood swings and can get very violent.
