Hi, I'm from Missouri, just been handed down my babys life sentence. Do we as mothers really have no recourse where drug addicted fathers are concerned? I felt whole heartedly that my attorney tucked his tail between his legs. And I paid him to represent me how? Because of there being drugs involved we were appointed a Gardian Ad Litum, but for this court hearing finilizing custody, he didn't even make an appearance, even tho I sent certified, letters of what I would concider poor parenting on the fathers visitation. ei: my son saying he was locked in the car, no one came to get me, I was scared!
I felt that the Judge did not allow any problems to be heard, and he handed out visitation like the father was a picture painted father. When my attorney brought up the drug issue after I actually had to argue with him to do so, the judge promptly said that in out youth, we all make mistakes, and we don't want to be judged by these mistakes. Wake up there judge. This man is 28 years old and a 10 year meth abuser. I feel that this is my baby, and my rights to say no have been taken away. Under contract of marriage a child is concidered property, and so joint custody is awarded, however this sperm doner did not even pay any support until my child was 1 year, I was served with papers and I went to CSE to protect myself. Do we as single mothers that bare this alone, not have a right to be compensated for damages. I think we should! What do you think? How many of these men would be coming forward with custody suits if they thought for 1 minute that they may have to compensate monitary wise, what the women went through for 9 months, giving birth amd after affects. I would do anything for my child, but not give my child to him. Let's face it, you can put all the eggs, and lets make it 1 step easier, a fertilized egg, in any man and the result would be nothing. But you can put any vible sperm in most any women (there are exceptions of coarse) and this women will be a giver of life! So why are we not recogonized for this? In addition, Why without the benefit of a contract (as in marriage) does this man have any rights? Do you know how heart wrenching it is to have someone you don't trust, and has been a drug addict long enough he can't even care for himself, tear your 17 month old baby out of your arms, and to a person he never saw before. And then to hear him screaming mommy through closed doors and windows, all the waydown the road. This going on for every visitation for at least 4 months. What kind of a monster would want to do this to a baby. This must be real parental love. What do you think? Rosee |

He will eventually get his.. Good always prevails. It does make me sick too. I wish there was something more I could say to you. I will personally pray for you and hope that things will work out. We all have our challenges we have to work out and God won't give you anything you can't handle. Just know he is planning something much bigger for you and yours.
My ex and I were in a 4 year custody battle and it about killed me. It consumed my every thought and every day. Then magically one day (my daughter was 7 or 8) he remarried and had more kids and now my daughter (now 12)doesn't see him anymore but maybe 2-3 times a year. Our life is full and wonderfull. His....not so good. Hang in there! Keep us posted. |

I agree with Thinker. God wont give you more than what you can handle. Some times things happen for a greater good than what we can see or understand at the time. Don't miss understand me I am not saying that having your ex-husband having a joint custody is good by any means. But, perhaps you can clear some things up for me because it is unclear to me in your statement. You said that drugs were involed even though the primary focus stated was on your ex did it pertain to you as well? Depending on your honest answer you might have some recourse. Please let me know. |

Hi Rosie! It was nice to hear from you. I'm glad to see that you had not been pulled into the realm of drugs directly even though I know that we can suffer the consequences of others around us that do. You know you may or may not be interested, but I would like to share something with you and any other single parent out there that has had challenges with the legal system and might also be concerned about loosing their identity. Unfortunately, when someone like your ex is involved with the drug scene they will do about anything to get their drugs. Identity Theft is the leading crime worldwide and is number one crime here in Utah. I have several friends that have been in situations similar to yours that have literally had their lives and their children's lives threaten. Some have been kicked to the curb with nothing at all along with the kids that eventually found them in the YWCA. The information that I am about to share with you has helped many of us in multiple areas. You can choose what areas to participate in. If nothing else, perhaps you could review it and pass it on to others. This information for this very rare opportunity is only going to be available for the next 12 days period. Below I have listed both a phone number with 3 different recorded messages and a website to give you a bit of information. Please let me know what you liked best. Special web site for this short term event only: www.singleparentsonly.*** There is a special recorded call for singles is 512-404-2330. My direct email is: suzettekooyman2002*yahoo.*** |
