Hey,

I am posting an open invitation to all single parents in Mass and New England. For years I've wanted to get a single parent group together; please join my attempt to have a first meeting.

The meeting will be Sat 8/20/05 at 6:00 in a decent restaurant just outside Boston. By decent, I mean they serve alcohol and you probably wouldn't take your kids there. You have to PM me to find out where I made the reservations. It'd be cool if you could include a little info about yourself.

At the meeting I just expect to introduce ourselves, find out what we all like to do, and plan our next activity.

Please bring cash to the restaurant. I'd kinda like to handle the bill with an anonymous pile of cash, and I'll just cover the difference. I'm saying this because I rememeber what it was like the first 5-6 years after my son was born, and I wouldn't have gone to something like this because of money. If it turns out that everybody covers themselves, that's cool. I just want everyone to know that my goal is to have as many single parents show up as possible, and I'd hate for money to be a reason why someone didn't show up. I promise that most of the activities will be free...

So anyway...PM me if you're interested...and please talk about it in the forums. Lol...I gotta make myself break from this place or I'll get myself fired...

I just got notified of something, however. While I'm the coordinator of this event, I'm not the host. Legally, this means all alcoholic drinks won't be on the official tab, and you have to handle those on your own. I don't think that should be too much of a problem...

Lol...and for the record, I'm going to have some alcoholic drinks...

just an FYI for ideas for activites there are also websites that post local and state wide events that are low cost and free alot more choices in the summer, i live close to RI so i know they have alot of activities, ill see what i can come up with for MA info to bring along for the 20th and sometimes i can get discounted or free tix to area attractions
and youll have to have a drink for me since im expecting

just an idea that if someone really wants to go on the 20th but transportation is an issue, maybe we can help each other out so all can attend let me know if someone is stuck in the southern MA area

i have one friend who is working on a sitter, i really dont want to drive all by yself that far. i know there are a lot of people from mass, i guess either they arent interested or dont know about it, is there any other way to get it out there?

I can think of lots of possible worries that people would have. Lol...for one thing, we are meeting strangers over the Internet...that's always a scary thing.

Even if this first one doesn't have lots of people, it'd be good just to do it for the first time. I'm sure if it's fun and we keep getting together, new people will find out and start coming. You know, we *do* still have a week...a lot of people could come through here in a week.
