Welcome to the forum.
Hope you'll stick around, I think you'll find plenty of great people here to relate to and I think you'll find that most of us are living lives that we never figured would be this way, but we find ways to accept them and strive for happiness out of it all Smiler

I'm glad you are seeing a therapist, with how you are expressing your feelings. It's totally alright to get outside help to deal with such strong emotions. Just one thing I'd like to say about their advice....

I need to accept my life for what it is, not what it should be
probably should be more like ".....not what we thought it would be" It could very well be that we are where we are supposed to be, and that this IS what it should be.
Hmmm, a little too deep for Saturday night? Big Grin

welcome to sfv...as tough as it seems escaping the reality is not an answer and mostly that usually sounds like the easiest way out..You need to keep strong first of all for you and second for your 5 year old son he is precious and you and he needs you.
A baby will not stop you from achiving the things you want in life it might make things a little bit tougher but it should also be an inspration to reach for those goals especially as a single parent you want to know that you have tried to give your baby the best you can.
There is a lot of help for people in your situations and you should take advantage of it as much as you can...do not hold a grudge on him for what he did to you and yes it easier said than done but it takes more effort and sucks alot of your emotions to hold on to the past than to let go, trust me life will teach him the lesson he deserves...
Stick around and feel free to talk to any of us our situations might not be similar but we have all had our share...God bless and take heart
