I'm a father living with 2 boys (12-6). Their mom left me but they decided to come back to me. My daughter stayed with her and I don't know if I should legally get her back to me too.She is 14 and she says she prefers living with her mom. I know she's been partying a lot and even began drinking. Up to what point can I force or convince her to come back to me? She lives in a far city from here.I don't know what to do!!help.
I would also like to start an honest long-lasting friendship with a single mother and exchange lessons and experiences. thanks.null

Unfortunately, in most juristictions, a child of the age 14 can decide which parent they chose to reside with. That may be something for you to look into, but still a tough one to battle even if in your favor. Why? Because following that, no matter the age restrictions and limitations, you have to show why you believe the child would do better off with you rather than the mother. Not always fair, but the mother usually has favor in this decision. In order to pull a child from a custodial mother, you pretty much have to show "incompetitence" in her ability to care for the child...and generally isn't an easy task, unless obviously present.

I cannot provide legal advice, but encourage you to look into those areas of custodial rights within your region.

Good luck and keep us posted.
