At A loss for Words - NOT!

I just want to share this with you. This summer, my Mom took my son for a week, and then my sister for another week. It was the first time I left my 5 year old for more than 2 nights (and that happened 1 time before). I did not miss him one bit, and he had the time of his life, he got to fly to Germany and to Rome as an UM. And I had 4 days of holidays. And look what happened to me after only 2 days of cycling in the south of France..Life is good.

Aww Dew, I'm so happy to hear you had a holiday! I have yet to have more than an overnight away from my 4 year old boy. I miss the time to recoop and refresh after long periods of being a Mom and a Dad. I'm so glad and you look so happy in that picture!

hey Sky,
yes, it's definitely a good thing. Actually, I am booking flights for him again for march !!!!
I hope you'll get a holiday too, and soon.
It changed me completely, just these few days.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to have the family that supports the idea of me getting holidays. I was supposed to have one last week to Vegas, but the finances and my mother's wedding date messed with that one. It's okay though, I love these little guys enough to put aside my dreams of experiencing what it is like to be single. I only got about 3 months of that before I was expecting my first Wink

And I hope that March gets here quickly for you!

Sky,
it didn't work this way around for me either, really. It's them asking for my son to come, not me asking them to take him, and I get to pay for the flights too of course Roll Eyes.
It's kind of strange how fast I became 'a single' again, though. Maybe I was not meant to be a mother, at least not long distance Razzer Cool
I remember a post, years ago, where I said, I NEVER relax. Well, after half a day without my son, I was definitely relaxed.
I am a terrible mom.

Dew,

You are not a terrible Mom! Many of us feel that way after putting our children first for so long it does feel like a sense of relief to be able to concentrate solely on us. I think that makes us human, not bad parents.

I think you're right. In any case, once I've left my child with someone I trust, I might as well relax and make the most of it.

Exactly. He was in good hands, there was no need to concentrate solely on his well being. These holidays are supposed to be about our well being, which includes knowing they are safe and that they'll be there when we are done having a good time.

I say it like I know what it is. Ugh LOL

That's great for you! If you are a terrible mother, so am I. My daughter is sick...again...i've been dealing with it for two days. She is coughing constantly, whining, refusing medicine and puking because she won't SPIT OUT the mucous, she swallows it until it makes her sick. I'm way past the "my poor baby" point and I just want to lock her away somewhere or run away myself. As single parents, we don't have the option of escaping to the store or just for a car ride by ourselves when things get too overwhelming. At this moment I wish like heck that her dad was here so I could say "i'm gone! you deal with it!" We are entitled to those rare occassions when we can escape by ourselves and we SHOULD enjoy it!
