I am New to SFV
Posted
Hi there! I'm new to the site and looking to connect with single parents to provide support, ideas and encouragement.

I'm single and a prospective adoptive mom. I've completed my final interview/home study a few days ago and the reality of the adoption is now hitting me. I'm feeling scared, nervous, anxious, excited and fearful. I'm sure this is normal but I can't help but doubt the confidence I had when started the adoption process and question whether I can do this alone or not. I don't know anything about being a single mom as well as being an adoptive mom. My family is very supportive of me emotionally and mentally; however, they live far from me so getting their help on a day-to-day hands-on help is difficult. I'm sure I'm not the first to go through something like this and would like to connect with others of you out there. What should I expect? How has your life changed? How do you handle the day-to-day "busy-ness"? How can I prepare for single-parenthood now -- if it's even possible to prepare for such an event?

Thank you in advance.
