I am New to SFV |
The Info: I am 21 years old and I have been dating a man who is significantly older than me for just over a year now. He has 2 children (age 15 & 9) who live in another state. The children are scheduled to come for a visit in August.
I am very nervous to met the children and am in search for some advice. The kids are very excited to come and see there father and they know that they will be meeting me but do not seem excited at all about that. I am wondering what/where would make the best situation meet them for the 1st time. For example, should I meet them at a restaurant? or maybe at the entrance of a theme park we will be going to? or maybe meet them at a movie theater? And then what do I do at the initial meeting? Do we shake hands or should I give them a hug or what? I feel a lot closer to the kids than they do with me only because I know so much about them. The younger child is not against me but she doesn't seem to have the attention span to listen to her father tell her about me and the older one is very shy and reserved. Please give me suggestions about what to do! |

![]() I would favor meeting them some where that you can talk, but not have to. Let the kids come to you in their own time. How much time will they spend with their dad before they meet you? Remember the kids are coming to see their dad so don't feel bad if they don't pay much attention to you. My oldest is an adopted step son, but it was a hole different situation. Hope this helps. |
