MeShell - Try going to the law schools. They sometimes offer low cost legal help. Also, depending on your income, you may be able to find attorney's willing to do pro bono work. At the court house I know that on certain days there is legal help available to individuals who have low income

Hi my name is Dawn and I am new to this group. I am not sure what you are going through but there is a website called Illinois Pro Bono - it is attorneys that dedicate their time to people in need of help. There are ton's of these attorneys in Chicagoland and since it is the first of the year they are more apt to take on new cases. Here is their site.

also check out legal aid at this site

If it is issues with your new baby that is due the end of the month - such as paternity or child support - Illinois Department of Child Support will help you for free. Here is their website. http://www.ilchildsupport.com/
I wish you the best of luck and will keep you in my prayers.
