I have read some of the messages that you all have written and wanted to say that the women aren't the only ones who go through this and have the same questions and concerns. I have been seperated for about eight months and have a full time career along with being the primary parent of my two little boys. When you do have time to yourself what do you do to make the time valuable. I spend every moment thinking of ways to make sure my boys aren't affected by the divorce, but when do you find time for yourself. If you talk to a woman just to meet and have a converstion with, they either assume you are hitting on them and want to sleep with them and if they do like you they want a relationship right away. Does anyone know of any single parent clubs to join and if not it would be a hell of a good idea to start one.

You found what you're looking for.
This net is definitely a nice place to hang out after the kids are asleep, an easy to get to, and you need no babysitter.
And apparently there are a lot of people from your area too.
Good Luck with meeting some nice people and Welcome.

Hey Jame -

I'm Molly and I'm separated although my stb-ex is still in the house. (Oh it is awful)

I live in Highland Park. That is quite a commute you have.

I read your other post where you asked if anyone feels more comfortable with someone who has "been through this" - and I most definitely do! It is so comforting to know that, as bad as it gets, it does get better. And that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

There is a great group (so I've heard) called Parenting without Partners. www(dot)parentswithoutpartners(dot)org

I'm glad you found this site. I wasn't able to get back in until I re-registered.

Talk to you soon!
Molly

Hey there welcome to the site. I think it would be a good idea to maybe meet bi-weekly or whatever for soem sort of gathering. Maybe we could switch off houses and bring the kids (because I know that daycare can sometimes be hard) just to have the support/friendship of others in the same circumstance. Hey I'm really tired--gotta go. Hopefully talk to ya soon.

I would love a single parent group for my kids to get together and play. Anyone in the Sterling/Dixon area interested in getting one started.

I'm looking for some friends too. I have just become a single parent with joint custody. The problem is when I started dateing my ex I lost all my friends. Now that we separated I have noone to turn to. This last week has been the tuffest of my life and it would be good to meet some new people and start new friendships. 4th of July weekend is coming up and I will be all alone, my family has been great and has tons of support but I need more than just family.

I live in the south sub of Chicago

I think a meet and greet would be a great idea aspecailly for people who are dealing with alot of the same issues.
