Parent on Board

I have been divorced for five years. The divorce ended a seven year marriage resulting in one child. Since the divorce, I am again very timid and shy, its almost like I have forgotten how to even look at a man and then to start a conversation, really scares me. I literally get weak if a guy approaches me. I have always been shy but when I was 7 years younger than now it didn't seem that hard. I don't know if its because of the rough marriage I had- the verbal abuse may have not knocked my self esteem down to a zero level. But, how do I start again socializing? Right now my life consist of the wonderful job I have and the wonderful daughter I have. But, that still doesn't feel like enough. I have tried dating services on line. I don't hang out at bars anymore. I just want adult conversation- where do I go to find that?

you know, going to events with your kids, like school events, is a good way to meet people. I am not sure if you are looking to date, but that would be a good place to start for conversation.

I would love to meet that certain special someone. I will go as mcuh as I can to her school events- hopefully there will be a friend of a friend or someone easy to talk to so I don't clam up.

my daughter actually starts school in less than two weeks for the first time. I am excited for her, I am sure I will shed a few tears.
